Sloane Stephens is a Grand Slam champion – having claimed the 2017 US Open at Flushing Meadows, but, in Europe at least, she isn't the most famous face in her relationship.
Former Premier League star Jozy Altidore would have shared his wife's disappointment on Tuesday. Stephens fell short to Qinwen Zheng 7-6 7-5 as she crashed out of Wimbledon at the first hurdle.
Altidore had been courtside for Stephens' finest hour, but with the MLS season in full swing, the former Sunderland man wasn't in SW19. But the two childhood sweethearts will soon be reunited, having managed to navigate their relationship around their hectic schedule.

Stephens and Altidore were childhood friends, having grown up together in Florida as they broke into their respective sports. Speaking about their relationship, Altidore said: “She is somebody who gets everything I am going through without having to say anything.
"You look at each other and you kind of know right away if one of you is annoyed. She just kind of gets the mood I’m in, as obviously she lives a very similar kind of life.
"In that regard it works really well, there is no stress. She is a successful athlete and I do okay, and we just enjoy our time together when we are together.”
