Anthony Joshua’s boxing ring walk divides fans as some slam it as ‘worst ever’

Anthony Joshua's ring walk for his return bout against Jermaine Franklin was widely slammed by boxing fans – with one even labelling it the sport's "worst ever".

AJ came out to a live rap performance from drill artist K-Trap at The O2 Arena in London before facing American Franklin. For many viewers it left a lot to be desired.

Taking to social media, one tweeted: "It was the worst ring walk I’ve ever seen." Another slammed: "Joshua just walked in to the ring to the worst rap in the history of speech."

"Embarrassingly over produced," claimed a third, while a fourth commented: "More atmosphere on a games night at local working men's, and what was that horrible music AJ came out to."

A fifth joked: "He lost already with this walk in." And a sixth teased: "This rap intro to Anthony Joshua is closest I’ve ever come to missing Sweet Caroline."

"Fire whoever planned AJ’s ring walk," argued a seventh. An eighth added: "An embarrassing ring walk… wtf was that about."

Some fans were impressed, though. One posted: "If it's one thing Eddie Hearn and DAZN do a really good job of it's their stage and ring walks for their fighters."

Anthony Fowler, meanwhile, said: "Most serious ring walk I seen AJ do, he’s persona changed a lot, looks super focused in business mode."

And another viewer replied: "Spot on. No f***ing about. Reminds me of the old Tyson ring walk. Just get in there and get the job done."
