Ebanie Bridges covers horrific eye injury as face remains disfigured from fight

Ebanie Bridges is recovering from her gruesome eye injury suffered in the ring on Saturday night.

The Blonde Bomber was beaten for the first time in her professional career by Shannon Courtenay.

And to add insult to injury for the 34-year-old, she sustained huge swelling on her face.

The world title clash was brutal, and Aussie Bridges was proud of what the pair achieved for women’s boxing in the ring.

Much attention has been gained from the bout at the Copper Box Arena in East London at the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park.

Watford boxer Courtenay may have been the victor, but Bridges has discussed the other targets she met from the fight.

In her first interview since Saturday night’s defeat, Bridges told journalist Gareth Davies: “I’m just glad that the goals that I set, obviously besides the world title, but the bigger goals that I set were achieved. Such as coming to the UK and fighting in the UK.

“I’m getting more eyes on women’s boxing which was my goal from the start of the fight weekend above all.

“And showing everyone that I’m more than just a lingerie model. I actually can fight and I do fight, and I fight harder than most men. That for me is a win."

Bridges spent the video call trying to cover the heavily-bruised eye injury with her hair, as she added: “The fight with Shannon was a great fight, it’s been labelled as one of the best female fights ever seen.
