Floyd Mayweather sets date for fight on helipad and bigs up bout vs YouTube star

Boxing icon Floyd Mayweather has confirmed he will return to the boxing ring for an exhibition fight in February and it could be against YouTuber Reshad ‘Money Kicks’ Belhasa.

Mayweather confirmed his comeback will be at an intimate boxing event in the Middle East scheduled for later this year – and it could be against the content creator.

Belhasa is 2-0 as an amateur boxer after winning twice against fellow social media personalities in 2020 on the inaugural 'Social Knockout' cards in Dubai.

He is perhaps taking inspiration from fellow social media star Logan Paul, who faced Mayweather in an exhibition bout which lasted the full eight rounds last year.

Mayweather, who retired with a perfect 50-0 record, vowed to never return to the ring after the contest.

But now the 44-year-old will partner with Front Row Events in Dubai to host a ‘boxing showcase’ which is set to turn out to be some occasion.

The event will be held on the helipad of the Burj Al Arab Jumeirah hotel on February 20.

Mayweather claimed the event will give fans in the region the opportunity to watch the American, insisting the bout pencilled for Febraury 20 is a ‘showcase’ rather than a fight.

"February 20th, we haven't chosen an opponent yet but I look forward to it and hopefully we give you guys something to see," added Mayweather.

"One fight? We may do more than one fight.

"I don't like to call what I'm doing a fight. I like to call it a limited edition boxing showcase.

"Because it's bigger than just boxing – we want to give the people some entertainment so there will be more than one fight.”

It will be his third exhibition bout since retiring from the sport, achieving his 50th win after defeating UFC star Conor McGregor back in August 2017.

He followed that up with an emphatic win against Japanese kickboxer Tenshin Nasukawa in 2018 before meeting Paul in June 2020.

Mayweather confirmed he will make a brief comeback during the Dubai event – and it could be against Belhasa.

"I spoke with James McNair [Mayweather's advisor] about Money Kicks," Mayweather announced at a press conference, revealing his plans to run events in Dubai.

"We don't really know, I think since he's from here it would be great, it's going to be a very special crowd, not too many people.

"So if you get a chance to come here, you must know that you're very, very special for this event.

"But the kid Money Kicks is doing great things and I'm liking what I'll see."

Belhasa has suggested that talks between his team and Mayweather were ongoing as the legendary boxer has previously appeared in his YouTube videos.

When asked about his future plans during an appearance on the Lovin’ Dubai Show, Belhasa said: "Next, you never know, may be Floyd.

"Talks are happening between me and Floyd Mayweather [for a bout] in the region, in Dubai."

Belhasa's two wins have come against fellow influencers Ajmal Kahn and Anas Elshayib.

He is also reportedly in talks to fight British YouTuber Faze Jarvis.
