Frank Warren insists Tyson Fury vs Oleksandr Usyk WILL be made next

Frank Warren insists Tyson Fury vs Oleksandr Usyk WILL be made with both teams set on an undisputed heavyweight showdown next… as he tells Anthony Joshua a mega-fight with the Gypsy King can still happen if he ‘gets a couple of wins under his belt’

  • Oleksandr Usyk retained his unified heavyweight titles against Anthony Joshua
  • The Ukrainian’s win over AJ on Saturday night has set up a clash with Tyson Fury
  • Usyk and Fury are now in line to battle it out for the undisputed crown next
  • Frank Warren claims a bout between the two champions is likely to be agreed
  • He has also told Anthony Joshua how a domestic clash with Fury is still possible

Frank Warren believes Tyson Fury and Oleksandr Usyk will battle it out for the undisputed heavyweight title next as both teams are determined to make the potential mega-fight happen.

Usyk cleared the coast for a showdown with Fury, which would crown the first undisputed king of the division since 2000, by beating Anthony Joshua in Saudi Arabia on Saturday night.

After dethroning Joshua in London last year, the Ukrainian produced another masterful performance to repeat the trick in Jeddah and retain his WBA, WBO and IBF championships on the scorecards.

Frank Warren believes Tyson Fury (L) and Oleksandr Usyk (R) will go head to head next

An encounter between Usyk and Fury, who holds the WBC strap, now appears the most logical next step for both men, with the Gypsy King reversing his recent retirement decision to throw down the gauntlet to his fellow champion.

Usyk also suggested after his win at the weekend that he may even hang up his gloves if a fight with Fury doesn’t materialise next.

However, Warren is convinced the pair will meet for the undisputed title because ‘both teams would like that to happen’.

‘He and Usyk would be a really good fight,’ Fury’s promoter said on BBC Radio 5 Live.

The Gypsy King has now reversed his decision to retire and thrown down the gauntlet to Usyk

The pair could meet next to crown the first undisputed heavyweight champion since 2000

‘It’s a fight that I think will be made because both teams would like to see that happen.

‘Usyk said after the fight that it’s the only fight he’s interested in, and it’s certainly the same case with Tyson.

‘It’s just a matter of where it will generate the most income because it’s a unique fight, a historic fight.

‘It’s the first time for God knows how long that the four belts are on the line. Both fighters are undefeated. The whole world of boxing will be captivated by this fight.’

Warren expects Fury and Usyk’s mega-fight to happen as both teams are keen to make it next

He has also given Joshua hope by suggesting a clash with Fury could still occur in the future

While Fury vs Usyk is undoubtedly a fascinating matchup, British fight fans were left disappointed after Joshua failed to set up a historic clash with his domestic rival in Saudi.

A proposed bout between Joshua and Fury would likely have transcended the sport, but the former’s defeat on Saturday night means it is currently dead in the water.

Nevertheless, Warren has not ruled out the possibility of it happening in the future.

‘If AJ manages to get a couple of wins under his belt – and I believe Tyson will beat Usyk – that may be a fight to be made,’ he claimed.

‘But AJ’s got to re-establish himself before you can even think about fights like that.’
