Ahead of his third, and most likely final, fight with fellow heavyweight Deontay Wilder, Tyson Fury’s nutritionist has revealed his 5,000-calorie-a-day diet that the Gpsy King has been following pre-fight.

After their first bout ended in a controversial draw, and their second was won by Fury, the two heavyweight giants will lock horns once again this weekend with their trilogy fight taking place at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.

There is no doubt the Englishman will be doing all he can to hold onto his WBC heavyweight title, and a key component to a potential success will of course be his all-important fight preparation.

As a result, the 33-year-old’s nutritionist George Lockhart opened up on the Gypsy King’s remarkable diet that will have him ready and raring to go for this weekend’s title bout.

Lockhart, speaking to leading coffee retailer Coffee Friend, said: “Tyson consumes 5000 calories a day – one fish, one chicken, and one red meat throughout the day in each one of his meals.

“First thing in the morning Tyson is definitely going to have a coffee with his breakfast and what he eats is dictated by the activities of the day.

“But one thing that’s constant every single day is he has: one fish, one chicken, and one red meat throughout the day in each one of his meals. It might go up and it might go down but he consumes about 5000 calories a day.”

Lockhart is no stranger to working alongside some of the biggest names in sport, having previously been part of UFC star Conor McGregor’s team, whilst being a former MMA fighter himself.

After spending time within the Fury team he is more than confident the Englishman will dominate Wilder once more come the early hours of Sunday morning.

He added: “If Deontay Wilder makes it out of the third round I’ll be shocked… Fury puts him away before that.

“I have seen first hand in camp that Tyson Fury keeps on getting better and better. If I’m being honest, while I know Wilder is a big puncher – and this is a bold statement – if Wilder makes it out of the third round I’ll be shocked. I truly believe Tyson Fury will put him away before that.”

Whilst Fury’s mammoth 5000-calorie diet is clearly a heavy one, Lockhurst revealed that the Gypsy King’s nutrition is still kept extremely strict with no ‘cheat’ days or meals involved throughout his fight prep.

He commented: “He doesn’t have any cheat meals, he does not really crave anything. He also gets things like yoghurts and fruit bowls, so we give him tons of antioxidants.

“He gets those with the fruit but through the coffee as well, which is great at getting rid of pre-radicals. When you workout as much as Tyson does you create a lot of pre-radicals. We want to make sure we keep that stress down and keep him healthy.”

Whilst speaking with the coffee brand the nutritionist went on to add that the drink plays a huge role in his client’s mega diet, confirming that whilst going through extensive training coffee acts as an efficient ‘antioxidant’.

Lockhurst said: “When you workout, your body creates a lot of negative material, you’re stressing the body out, the pre-radicals is what our body releases when you work out, so when you ingest an antioxidant it actually gets rid of those pre-radicals.

You can have an amazing car, put amazing fuel in it but if it’s got no exhaust system it’s going to break down. Antioxidants are basically what helps you stay younger, it helps with inflammation and helps you look younger. So coffee is a good antioxidant.”
