Jake Paul named on Claressa Shields fight list as bitter feud rumbles on

YouTube star Jake Paul has been named on Claressa Shields' fight list as the undefeated world champion picked out several names to battle it out with her in the boxing ring.

Shields holds four middleweight world championship belts and she is scheduled to come up against Ema Kozin in the UK early next year.

She has frequently clashed with Paul on social media after transitioning from YouTube to the world of boxing – having recently extended his unbeaten record to five professional fights.

Paul reignited his feud with Shields by sharing his reaction to her first MMA defeat, mocking her performance.

And on the appropriately named Boxing Day, Shields took to Twitter to share her dream bouts heading into 2022.

“My boxing bucket list,” the 26-year-old started off in her social media post.

“Ema Kozin, Savannah Marshall, Keith Thurman, Katie Taylor, Jake Paul #claressashields #GWOAT.”

The female superstar has become one of boxing’s biggest and best names, which has attracted the ire of Paul who claimed Shields asked to feature on the undercard of the YouTuber’s recent knockout win over Tyron Woodley.

“Never have I ever,” Shields declared in a tweet on December 10 after Paul's manager suggested she enquired about a spot on the undercard. “I’m bout to sue Jake Paul and his team for defamation of character cause I ain’t never asked to be on no undercard of no YouTuber!”

Shields has fired a number of shots at Paul during his rise in boxing, claiming he is robbing future world champions of the opportunity to succeed.

To his credit, the 24-year-old has continued to open doors and attract a new audience of followers, particularly after his crushing win over Woodley.

Shields sees past the antics, though, and is confident she would defeat the controversial content creator if the two met in the ring.

“I know it's too much to fight him because it would be too embarrassing [for him],” she told Sky Sports. “But if I were to spar Jake, I could use one hand.

“Just my jab – I would out-jab, out-hook and out-uppercut him. I would embarrass him.”

After her comments, Shields was defeated by Abigail Montes in the PFL to derail her hopes of a successful MMA career.

Paul was quick to brand her a ‘loser’ following her loss, labelling it ‘karma’.

“The truth hurts but it’s necessary," Paul said in a lengthy social media post. “Claressa Shields is a loser.

“In MMA, and even more so with her prima donna attitude. The fake always get exposed. Losses come when anger and hate take over – just ask Rousey and McGregor.

“She spent more time berating Jake Paul than learning Jiu Jitsu, she’s never been a big draw and unfortunately for her she never will be.”
