Mike Tyson saved by chair after falling off skateboard in chat with Tony Hawk

Boxing icon Mike Tyson was left red-faced after he took a slight tumble during a conversation with Tony Hawk. For a split second the former heavyweight champion felt the fear he once instilled into the hearts of many an opponent when he slipped and fell backwards off a skateboard.

The 56-year-old invited the skateboarding icon on his Hotboxin’ Podcast, when he decided to try his hand at a new sport. Rather than slowly trying to get to grips with it, Tyson leapt onto the board straightaway and soon lost his balance and hilariously fell back in to his chair.

He laughed off the incident and said: “I’m okay, that didn’t happen.” Back in 2015 he had a similar accident, this time with a hoverboard.

The clip showed Tyson spin on the gadget in, seemingly, his living room. He laughs and applauds his skills before careering out of control and hitting the floor. The athlete hits the ground with a loud thump and his family can be heard chuckling behind the camera.

Tyson had wowed fans by proving he is still brutal in the ring despite his advancing years in his Instagram video last month.

The former epic knockout artist made a comeback in November 2020 for an exhibition bout against Roy Jones Jr and still has speed and ruthless aggression on the pads. Tyson recently discussed his dream opponent on his podcast but rather than a boxing great, he opted for Greek God "Achilles”.

Tyson was completely adamant over his admission as he believes the Greek god is 'the greatest warrior ever' and 'as close to God as possible'.

"With fighting, it all comes down to spirit," he said, insisting that the mark of a true fighter is spiritual as well as physical."

Tyson even speculated about making a trip to Greece in an attempt to visit Achilles' tomb as the conversation turned towards Iron Mike's fascination with gladiatorial battles in the ancient world.
