No sex before fights for Ebanie Bridges as d*** is the last thing I think of

Boxing bombshell Ebanie Bridges follows Carl Froch’s and Floyd Mayweather’s lead in not having sex before a fight… but not for the same reasons.

The IBF bantamweight world champion is set to face fellow Australian Shannon O’Connell in her first ever title defence. It will be her first fight since overcoming Maria Cecilia Roman in a brutal 10-round battle via a unanimous decision in March.

However, there will not be any bedroom gymnastics before her next bout, in what is a page out of Froch, Mayweather, and many other top boxers' books. Yet, her reasoning beyond that is, quite simply, she would not fancy it, after a long day of training.

“I have definitely heard of it for men,” Bridges said in an exclusive interview with Daily Star Sport, when asked about the sex ban. “As for women, I’m not sure it’s the same.

“But to be fair, after dieting and training so hard for such a long time, the last thing I am thinking of is d***!

“Honestly, when I am training so hard and dieting so hard, it really is the last thing on my mind. When I am in camp, I pretty much don’t want to expend any more energy on anything really.”

The sex before fight debate is one of the most long running debates in boxing, stretching back to the days of Muhammad Ali. But while Bridges is very skeptical about the debate itself, its very unlikely that she will be keen to find out for herself.

“I don’t think it would do anything if I was to do that,” Bridges added with a slight smile. “But thinking about it now, it’s the last thing I want to f***ing do, especially during fight week.

"I would be like, ‘nah, I’m good thanks, f***ing stay away from me and don’t touch me’. I would be like a cat, you know what I mean, I would be like ‘f*** off, don’t touch me, okay you can touch me now, actually no, f*** off!’

Now her next opponent has finally been announced, expect the claws to come out – just not in the bedroom.
