Paddy Pimblett leaves Jordan Leavitt red-faced with trick at UFC London weigh-in

Paddy Pimblett will face Jordan Leavitt at UFC London on Saturday night having already played the oldest trick in the book on his American opponent.

The pair will face off at The O2 Arena with Pimblett aiming to continue his charge towards a UFC title shot. He's not only won both bouts since signing with Dana White, but picked up two Performance of the Night awards as well.

And he's been at his charismatic best this week, flashing his backside at reporters and shouting "kiss my a**e" in a direct riposte to critics of his eating habits. He's also used the build-up to take aim at the Conservative party for the current cost of living crisis in the UK, telling Rishi Sunak to "eat s**t" lad.

At the weigh-ins on Friday though, it was Leavitt who was the butt of his joke. After the two squared off, Pimblett sportingly offered his right hand in an apparent show of respect.

As Leavitt moved in to take the handshake, Pimblett swiftly moved his hand away to leave his rival red-faced. The crowd roared their approval, and a delighted Pimblett responded by geeing them up further as he celebrated his moral victory.

To the credit of Leavitt, he too saw the funny side, taking a moment to laugh at himself before discreetly exiting the stage. Fans online however, seemed divided over whether the moment was comical or crass: "Get these two their own sitcom, they're awesome. Jordan sold that like a champ," wrote @deancomedy.

@FrancoZolaKing wasn't so impressed, ranting: "Can’t wait for him to be knocked out," while @oduks93 joked: "Boris Johnson to his fellow conservative MPs on his way out of 10."

However, Pimblett's fun – online at least – was halted by Saturday morning when Twitter seemingly suspended the account of the star. There has been no update over why the action was taken, but it isn't the first time he's fallen foul of social media bosses.

Following his first UFC win over Luigi Vendramini in September 2021, Pimblett called out Mark Zuckerberg after his Instagram account was shut down – later having the same problem on Twitter. And should he extend his MMA record to 19-3 in London, it's almost certain he'll be calling out authorities again.
