That Ravens-Browns game was such beautiful madness

This is the Morning Win, by Andy Nesbitt.

Well, if you missed the end to last night’s Ravens-Browns game then congratulate yourself for missing the best game of this NFL season because that’s exactly what it was… all the way to the final whistle.

I mean seriously, you missed a special one if you decided to hit the sack early.

Let me walk you through the madness.

First, Lamar Jackson missed most of the fourth quarter due to cramps that had him scurrying back to the locker room to find some sort of relief.

While Jackson was in the locker room, Twitter went crazy making obvious jokes about what Jackson might have been doing in the locker room. It was all gross and silly so I’ll let you try to figure that out, though this meme shared by Robert Griffin III after the game will help you.

But let’s clean things up and get back to football. While Jackson was in locker room his team lost its lead and faced a crucial fourth down late in the fourth quarter while trailing by a point. The backup QB, Trace McSorely, suffered a leg injury on the play before that and suddenly there was Jackson trotting back on the field to play the role of hero. And that’s exactly what he did as he threw a 44-yard TD pass to Marquise Brown that gave the Ravens a 42-35 lead.

Baker Mayfield then played the role of hero for his team and led the Browns on a 4-play, 75-yard drive that finished with a TD pass to Kareem Hunt that tied up the game.

There was only one problem, though. He gave Jackson too much time. The 2019 NFL MVP got the Ravens in FG position and Justin Tucker banged home a 55-yarder with seven seconds left to give them a 3-point lead.

Then some real silliness happened on the final play of the game as the Browns lateraled the ball around a bunch of times until the ball went out of the back of the end zone and was ruled a safety. That gave the Ravens a 47-42 victory and allowed them to cover the spread (they were 3 to 3.5 favorites) so people who bet on the Browns lost on the worst bad beat I’ve seen in maybe all of my life.

Then after the game Jackson took at a shot at Paul Pierce while talking about his cramps.

It was all such beautiful madness.

Man, what a game.

And what a bonkers night of football watching.
