No. 5 Oklahoma State is scheduled to rematch No. 9 Baylor for the Big 12 Championship game.
As the Cowboys prepare for the matchup at 11-1, the Bears will fight for a playoff spot at 10-2. Baylor dropped one spot in the College Football Playoff rankings this week since they earned a 27-24 victory against unranked Texas Tech on Nov. 27.
Baylor’s defense allowed 262 passing yards and failed to make a fourth-down stop during their final regular-season game. However, they recovered two fumbles and allowed freshman quarterback Blake Shapen to lead the Bears’ offense for his first start. He threw for 254 yards with two touchdowns.
Quarterback Gerry Bohanon’s status for the matchup is uncertain due to a hamstring injury, but coach Dave Arranda told reporters that Bohanon would be at practice this week.
Oklahoma State is undefeated in the last 113 years of playing a team twice in a season, according to The Oklahoman. Quarterback Spencer Sanders will look to redeem himself against Baylor after he threw two interceptions last week against Oklahoma. He finished the rivalry matchup with 214 passing yards and a touchdown.
A win against Baylor would boost Oklahoma State’s chance at earning a spot in the College Football Playoff depending on how the top four teams perform in the championship games.
