The Roosters are reportedly keeping a close eye on Israel Folau’s progress in the Super League with an eye to signing him for the 2021 season.
The Sunday Telegraph reported that the Roosters see Folau as a potential replacement for veterans Brett Morris and Mitchell Aubusson, who are both expected to leave the club at the end of the 2020 season.

Roosters chairman Nick Politis has a close relationship with player agent Wayne Beavis, who was involved in Folau’s move to Super League club Catalans Dragons.
However when asked about a potential move for Folau, Politis and Roosters coach Trent Robinson refused to comment.
Catalans coach Steve McNamara is a close friend of Robinson, which will allow him to keep tabs on Folau throughout the Super League season.
Roosters win WCC
Rugby League: The Roosters made history by becoming the first team to win back-to-back World Club Challenge trophies. The Chooks winning 20 – 12 over St Helens.
Folau, 30, has been unofficially banned from the NRL, but there is growing sentiment that Folau shouldn’t be black-listed from the NRL forever.
Folau has assured Catalans that he would refrain from making homophobic comments on social media; which was the reason he was sacked by Rugby Australia.
The Roosters are set to table a two-year deal for Folau once his deal with Catalans expires.
Folau has been accustomed to $1 million per season deals in his career, but is prepared to take a substantial pay cut to return to the NRL.
