Liverpool goalkeeper Alisson has wished Cristiano Ronaldo ‘peace of mind for him and his entire family’ following the tragic death of his baby son this week.
Ronaldo and partner Georgina Rodriguez confirmed their newborn son had passed away in a devastating statement on Monday, describing it as ‘the greatest pain that any parents can feel.
‘It is with our deepest sadness we have to announce that our baby boy has passed away,’ the announcement read. ‘It is the greatest pain that any parents can feel.
‘Only the birth of our baby girl gives us the strength to live this moment with some hope and happiness. We would like to thank the doctors and nurses for all their expert care and support.

‘We are all devastated at this loss and we kindly ask for privacy at this very difficult time. Our baby boy, you are our angel. We will always love you.’
After being granted compassionate leave by United, Ronaldo was absent for their 4-0 defeat away at Liverpool on Tuesday night, but the home crowd paid tribute to their rival’s grieving No 7 by carrying out a minute’s applause in the seventh minute of the game.
It was a touching moment at Anfield, and Alisson has described it as a ‘beatiful gesture’ from Reds fans while sending his own classy message to Ronaldo.
‘This beautiful gesture from our fans shows that, at these times, rivalry must be put aside,’ The Brazilian shot-stopper said, according to Globo.

Ronaldo’s family were grateful for the show of support from Liverpool supporters, who also produced an emotional rendition of ‘You’ll Never Walk Alone’ during the minute’s applause.
The United forward’s sister Elma showed her appreciation by publishing footage of the gesture on social media and writing: ‘Thank you for this Liverpool. We will never forget what you did today.’
Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp also paid his respects to Ronaldo in his post-match press conference, saying after his side’s four-goal win: ‘My moment of the game was the seventh minute when the whole stadium showed pure class, so many things are much more important in life than football.
