Former Arsenal striker Kevin Campbell has urged the Gunners to sign both Martin Odegaard and Emiliano Buendia this summer. Odegaard is currently on loan at Arsenal from Real Madrid, while Norwich playmaker Buendia has been heavily linked with a move to the Emirates.

Campbell believes Arsenal need to add strength in depth next season, highlighting the quality that both Chelsea and Manchester City have on their bench.

Speaking to Football Insider, Campbell claimed that both Odegaard and Buendia would be ideal summer signings.

“They could sign both Odegaard and Buendia,” he said. “You can never have enough quality players.

“You only need to loot at Manchester City and Chelsea’s squads, there are quality players everywhere.

“There’s quality on the pitch and quality on the bench.

“You have to fatten your squad up with quality players.

“Then when you want to rotate, it doesn’t diminish the quality of your team.”

The Gunners were interested in signing Buendia in January but Norwich insisted that the player was not available, with Daniel Farke’s side in the midst of a promotion push.

However, according to a report from Eurosport, Arsenal are set to revisit their interest in the summer and they are likely to make an official bid.

Odegaard, meanwhile, joined Arsenal on loan in January and he recently admitted that he wants some “stability”.

The 22-year-old has been on loan at four different clubs during his time at Real.

Speaking to Norwegian outlet VG, Odegaard said: “I said many times that I’ve been looking for stability [at the same club], but haven’t found it.

“I think it’ll be important to find stability. I’m very happy at Arsenal, enjoying myself. I like it here. Now my focus is to finish the season, then we’ll see.”

Arteta has been impressed by the midfielder and is open to making the loan deal permanent, telling Sky Sports: “We have to discuss that.

“He’s not our player, we have a loan deal until the end of the season and we have to maximise that.

“We have to make him as good and as happy as possible at the club so at the end of that loan, we have the best possible chance to decide what is best for both parties.”
