Hector Bellerin is finally set to depart the Emirates, with La Liga side Real Betis set to sign the Arsenal defender. The Spaniard has been itching for a move out of Arsenal all summer, having seen a transfer to Inter Milan collapse at the eleventh hour earlier in the summer.

The former Barcelona youth academy star is set to join the Verdiblanco, just over 10 years since he joined The Gunners from Barcelona’s youth academy when he was just 16-years-old.

Betis finished in sixth place in La Liga last year and they will also compete in the Europa League, where they have been drawn in a group with Celtic, Ferencvaros, and Bayer Leverkusen.

It initially appeared he was going to sign for Serie A champions Inter Milan with the Italian side expressing the most interest; however, a transfer fee could not be agreed, and the 19-time Italian champions signed Dunzel Dumfries from PSV Eindhoven for around £11m.

Bellerin’s intention to leave the club was reported by The Athletic in the middle of August, with the 26-year-old defender even reportedly willing to take a pay cut if it meant he could leave Arsenal.

He made 239 appearances for the Gunners contributing with nine goals and 29 assists under Arsene Wenger, Unai Emery, and Mikel Arteta. During that spell he won three FA Cups and three Community Shields, as well as making 15 appearances in the Champions League.

He will be the latest player to depart the 13-time English champions.

Earlier in the summer, Joe Willock made his loan spell to Newcastle United permanent in a deal worth £25m.

Wiliian is also set for the Emirates exit door and has even agreed to mutually terminate his contract worth over £20.5m to pave the way for a move to Brazilian side Corinthians.

However, Bellerin’s transfer is perhaps a move which will frustrate Arsenal fans.

Mikel Arteta’s side have begun their season in horrible fashion and are currently rock bottom of the Premier League.

Back-to-back 2-0 humblings at the hands off promotion new boys Brentford and fierce London rivals Chelsea.

While a 6-0 thrashing of West Bromwich Albion in the League Cup signified a turn in the road for the Gunners, all positivity and momentum was blown away by Manchester City who demolished Arteta’s side 5-0 at the Etihad Stadium.

Arsenal’s defending in particular has been especially called into question with nine goals conceded in their opening three matches.

The Gunners have been linked with Kieran Trippier of Atletico Madrid; however, they are facing fierce opposition from Manchester United, who are also reportedly keen on signing the England international.

After the international break, The Gunners face newly promoted Norwich City at the Emirates.
