Arsenal ‘must sell one player’ to launch Aouar bid as two stars near exit

Arsenal have been informed that they will have to offload one more player if they want to launch another attempt to secure the services of Lyon's Houssem Aouar.

The Gunners were unable to sign the highly-rated youngster last summer, and Mikel Arteta is keen to move again for Aouar after Arsenal failed to qualify for Europe for the first time in 25 years.

Arteta is wanting a major squad rebuild as he continues to offload the deadwood this summer.

And, according to ESPN, Arsenal will have to offload at least one more player before they launch a formal bid for the Frenchman.

ESPN are reporting that Lyon would be willing to accept a fee in the region of €25million for their young talent.

However, Arsenal will be challenged for his signature by French giants PSG, who have the added incentive of European football, and one unnamed Spanish club.

Lyon's valuation of the midfielder has also dropped; last summer the French side were demanding €60million, and Arsenal had a bid of €35million rejected.

Lyon, like Arsenal, missed out on Champions League football – however, unlike the Gunners, they will be in the Europa League next season.
