Fiorentina’s reluctance to let another star join Juventus, could be a huge boost in Arsenal’s pursuit for Dusan Vlahovic, according to reports. Mikel Arteta’s side have frequently been linked with the 21-year-old sensation who leads the Serie A goalscoring charts with 16 goals in 20 league appearances.
Arsenal reportedly submitted a £46million plus Lucas Torreira bid to bring the Serbian hitman to the Emirates Stadium in the January transfer window.
A striker appears to be at the very top of Arteta’s transfer wish-list, with Alexandre Lacazette and Eddie Nketiah facing uncertain futures, while former captain Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is yet to be included in a match-day squad since he allegedly returned late from a trip abroad.
The Gunners are believed to be competing with the likes of Juventus, Tottenham, and Bayern Munich for Vlahovic’s signature, who is believed to be valued at around £68m.
However, Fiorentina’s previous history of selling Federico Bernardeschi and Federico Chiesa to Juventus, could mean they are reluctant to sell Vlahovic to Massimiliano Allegri’s side, according to the Athletic.

Bernardeschi moved to the Turin side in 2017 for £35m, while Chiesa was snapped up on a two-year loan deal in 2020 with an obligation to buy for £36.3m in 2022.
Vincenzo Italiano’s would prefer to trigger a bidding war for Vlahovic’s signature amongst the significantly wealthier Premier League sides, rather than sell another key asset to Juventus.
La Viola have grown acceptant of their fate, after Vlahovic reportedly refused to extend his contract which expires in the summer of 2022.
While the idea of leaving Fiorentina mid-season is not believed to appeal to the Serbian ace, Fiorentina are reportedly looking for a sale in January.

With his contract entering its final 12 months at the end of the season, Fiorentina could be concerned about the prospect of his transfer value decreasing.
And with a purported £68m price tag on his head right now, the Serie A giants will endeavour to maximise every bit of revenue they can muster from the Serbian.
While Arsenal have not hid their interest and admiration of the 21-year-old, Italian newspaper La Repubblica understands Pep Guardiola has also identified Vlahovic as a potential option.
Despite amassing a significant ten-point lead at the top of the Premier League, City are also desperate for a striker having missed out on Tottenham striker Harry Kane in the summer.

However, both Guardiola and Arteta may struggle to convince the Serie A hitman to part ways, after he made his desire to remain with Fiorentina until the end of the season, abundantly clear.
“I have stated this several times so far. A beautiful football story is being made here in Florence,” Vlahovic said to Politika, via the Express.
“We have a good team, great football players, great support from the fans. It all deserves respect.
“Only God knows what will happen in the next period. My wish is to bring Fiorentina to Europe, because we have not been in Europe for a long time.
“I don’t know what can happen overnight. We’ll see.”
