After one of the worst seasons in recent memory that saw Arsenal miss out on any kind of European football for the first time in 25 years, manager Mikel Arteta is willing to let a number of Gunners stars leave as he plans a huge rebuild.
The Gunners ended the campaign without a trophy, failing to retain their FA Cup crown while also suffering a humiliating elimination from the Europa League at the hands of former boss Unai Emery, who guided Villarreal to win the competition outright.
It was a season in which very few Arsenal players covered themselves in glory, meaning most of them are seen as dispensable in the eyes of Arteta, who has reportedly placed three central midfielders in the shop window.
Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano has recently suggested all three of Granit Xhaka, Matteo Guendouzi and Lucas Torreira are up for sale with the summer transfer window creeping ever closer.
The trio have enjoyed mixed careers in North London, Lucas Torreira took to life at the Emirates with seemingly great ease, delivering a number of man of the match performances in his debut campaign as well as bagging a goal against fierce rivals Tottenham Hotspur.
The standard of his performances eventually slipped as the campaign wore on, before he find himself out of favour with Emery for much of his second season in N5. He has spent the majority of the 2020/21 season on loan at La Liga champions Atletico Madrid, though has struggled for playing time.
It appears unlikely that Atletico Madrid will keep him around next season, with Torreira open in his desire to play in South America for a club like Boca Juniors.
Matteo Guendouzi was signed from French Ligue 2 outfit as a relatively unknown talent, though he was thrown in at the deep end by then-manager Emery, making his debut on the opening day of the 2020/21 campaign against Premier League titans Manchester City.
He featured throughout Emery's tenure, before disciplinary issues drove a wedge in his relationship with current boss Arteta, who is now rumoured to be willing to let the 22-year-old return back to France to ply his trade for Marseille in a deal that would see the Gunners earn around £8m.
Guendouzi has been on loan at Bundesliga side Hertha Berlin since September.
Granit Xhaka is undeniably one of the most divisive players of the Emirates era, irreparably damaging his relations with some sections of the Arsenal fanbase after he threw his shirt to the ground as he was substituted in late 2019.

However, once offered a shot at redemption by Arteta, he has grown into an ever-present fixture in the Arsenal starting eleven and arguably one of the Gunners better performers in what was an otherwise dismal season.
The Swiss midfielder is the subject of interest from Serie A outfit AS Roma, managed by Jose Mourinho, who is publicly a big fan of Xhaka.
The self-proclaimed special one once said: "Granit Xhaka is the main man in the entire Arsenal midfield, you can't see it unless I lend you one of my eyes. Without him, Arsenal is lost. He is a leader. Remember, mistakes are made by humans."
