Arsenal warned season could end in “disgrace” after red flags vs Liverpool

Gabby Agbonlahor has slammed Arsenal for their “awful” performance against Liverpool, adding that their possible finish this season is a “disgrace”.

The Gunners were walloped 3-0 by Jurgen Klopp’s side at the Emirates on Saturday thanks to a Diogo Jota double and a Mohamed Salah strike.

Mikel Arteta’s men were second best throughout the clash, and enjoyed just three shots on goal during the entire 90 minutes, compared to the Reds’ 16.

The result leaves Arsenal 10th in the Premier League, and with an outside chance of qualifying for the Europa League.

Ex-Aston Villa striker Agbonlahor believes that is just not good enough for a club with players of such quality.

He told talkSPORT: “Arsenal fans must be so frustrated! There was no fight, no enthusiasm.”

“They looked like a team that had been away on international break, and hadn’t trained together, had no tactics together, and were a makeshift team that had been put together.

“They were awful. Arsenal could easily finish this season 11th.

“I think that’s a disgrace for a team with the players they’ve got.”

It wasn’t until the substitution of Jota for Andy Robertson that Liverpool roared into life in the final half an hour.

And Agbonlahor reckons that Klopp needs to start the Portuguese until the end of the season as Liverpool look to get back into the top four.

He went on: “Liverpool, I think they done the job, they were the better team when Jota came on, and I’m sure Jota will be starting every game now until the end of the season.”
