Aston Villa have announced they’ve reached a £40million agreement to sign Norwich star Emiliano Buendia.
The midfielder is currently on international duty with Argentina and is set to have his medical before completing his move to Villa on Tuesday after a World Cup qualifying game against Colombia.
As Sportsmail reported over the weekend, Villa had outmuscled Arsenal in the battle to secure Buendia’s signature after agreeing to pay £33m plus add ons up to £40m and a sell-on percentage.

The news will have dealt a bitter blow to Mikel Arteta, who wanted to sign Buendia for Arsenal
The news will come as a huge blow to Arsenal and Mikel Arteta, who had identified Buendia as a key target this summer as they look to rebuild after an underwhelming campaign.
Signing Buendia is an ambitious move from Villa and lays down their mark of intent to challenge for the top 10 spots and Europa League places, with the midfielder widely seen as one of the most talented players outside the top-flight leagues.
Villa, who confirmed that the Argentine will sign on the dotted line on Tuesday, are however bracing themselves for a bid for their star midfielder Jack Grealish.
The England international has attracted interest from Manchester City and Manchester United, who are reported to be plotting £100m bids for him over the coming months.
Buendia was the standout star in the Championship last season, earning him Argentina call-up
The signing of Beundia may be an indication that Jack Grealish could be sold this summer
Villa are determined to help hold of Grealish but the big-money capture of Buendia may be a sign that they are resigned to losing him this summer, with the promise of Champions League football an alluring prospect for the Englishman.
There are great similarities between Buendia and Grealish, with both players operating as attacking midfielders, technically gifted and possessing exceptional creative ability.
24-year-old Buendia was the Championship’s standout performer last season and played a major role in helping Norwich bounce back to the Premier League at the first time of asking.
He scored 15 goals and registered 17 assists in the league and was rewarded for his fine form with his maiden call-up to the Argentina squad as well as the Championship Player of the Year gong.
It is however still an ambitious signing and shows how strong the club’s standing is that they were able to beat a club like Arsenal to Buendia’s signature
