Liverpool are looking to have an active summer in their quest to regain the Premier League title net season.
Jurgen Klopp was ecstatic to qualify for the Champions League, having seen several injury issues throughout the season.
The Reds now hope that the lure of European football and the promise of a Premier League resurgence will be attractive to Europe’s brightest and finest talents.
Despite Football365’s report that Liverpool will avoid replacing outgoing Dutchman Gini Wijnaldum this summer, a few names keep circling as potential signings.
One of those is AC Milan playmaker Hakan Calhanoglu, who looks set to leave the San Siro for free this summer.
According to Calciomercato, the Reds are in talks with the player’s agent, though Juventus are also said to be in the hunt.
Likewise, Brighton ’s Yves Bissouma is still a possible Anfield summer arrival, with other top six clubs said to be interested.
The Seagulls are resigned to losing the Malian, despite Graham Potter’s fighting talk, and the 24-year-old’s latest message on Twitter to his fans possibly confirms he will be on the move.
Bissouma cryptically wrote: “Mom told me watch out they will love you a lot less when you go up my son, you will see time break some friendships.”
Keeping the general happy
Bringing players in players is all well and good, but Liverpool’s priority is to keep the talent they’ve got.
While little has been seen of him this season, Virgil van Dijk is top of that list, according to Football365.
Van Dijk is talismanic for the Reds, so the club hierarchy have prioritised extending his contract, while Mohamed Salah, Van Dijk, Fabinho, Alisson Becker, Trent Alexander-Arnold and Andy Robertson also are set for improved deals.
Klopp hunting for youth
Having endured patches of woeful form this season, Jurgen Klopp is looking to bring in youth to reinvigorate his Liverpool group.
One player he has his eye on is RB Salzburg forward Patson Daka, but according to Anfield Central, West Ham are favourites to sign the Zambian.
The 22-year-old scored 34 goals for the Austrian side this season, but it looks like he’ll be on the move to the London Stadium for £25m.
Meanwhile, Klopp also has his eye on Roma ’s 19-year-old Ebrima Darboe, who managed to break into the Roma team this season.
90min report that Liverpool are one of seven clubs monitoring the defensive midfielder, but he is said to want regular football, likely ruling out the Reds from a deal at this stage.
