Chelsea defender Rudiger ‘contacted by Bayern’ but wage demands could block move

Antonio Rudiger has reportedly been contacted by Bayern Munich as he enters the final years of his Chelsea deal.

But the 28-year-old's wage demands may provide a stumbling block with Rudiger's demands too much for the Bavarian side to match.

The German currently earns around £100,000-a-week, but that eye-watching sum isn't enough to place him the Blues' top ten earners.

Rudiger is believed to be hoping to double that figure, however, Chelsea are only willing to offer £150,000-per-week, according to BILD.

And the reigning German champions, who reached out to Rudiger's half-brother and agent Sahr Senesie, could take a similar stance.

Thomas Tuchel, on the other hand, is keen to resolve the contract deadlock by keeping the centre-back at the club.

"I hope that they find solutions, but it's not only between coaches and players, and what we wish for.

“And that's why it's between the club and the player’s agent at the moment.

“He's in the strongest league in Europe, in a big club, so not many reasons to change that.

"But in the end, it's between him and the club, and that's in good hands.”

Rudiger has been central to Tuchel's plans while at Chelsea, and he often marshals the backline from the centre of the defensive trio.

The German also played a key role in delivering the Champions League to Stamford Bridge last season.

However, with Rudiger able to negotiate freely in January a number of clubs – including Juventus and PSG – are on red alert.
