Chelsea fans have been left shocked after Michy Batshuayi was given a run-out during the Blues pre-season tour of the United States.

Batshuayi joined the Londoners six years ago in a £33million deal from Marseille, but the Belgian striker has been a major flop at Stamford Bridge. The 28-year-old has mustered just eight Premier League goals in 48 appearances and has been farmed out on loan countless times in recent years.

After struggling to make an impression with Crystal Palace in the 2020/21 campaign, Batshuayi notched 14 goals in 42 games for Besiktas last term and has been tipped to leave the Blues for good this summer.

But the striker featured in Chelsea's 2-1 win over Club America – much to the bemusement of Chelsea fans. One tweeted: "#Chelsea So why take player's like Michy Batshuayi and Barkley who we all know , won't be part of your plans for next season. This is the problem I have with Tuchel, he trusts the wrong players that will let him down!"

Another fan posted: "Kennedy batshuayi baba Rahman alonso Kepa why tf are they still playing for my club in 2022." Another Blues fan also stuck the boot in on Kai Havertz, tweeting: "Batshuayi and Havertz are probably the worst front men among the top 10 sides at least. What worries me, Batshuayi was better than Havertz last game."

And another Blues fan called for Thomas Tuchel to finally get Batshuayi off the books this summer, tweeting: "Really praying we start moving on the “squad players” here. It’s non-negotiable we need Rahman, Kennedy, Barkley, Batshuayi, and a couple cobham players moved on."

Despite including Batshuayi in their squad for the pre-season tour of the USA, it is believed the Blues are hoping to finally finding a permanent suitor for their misfiring striker.

A report from Marca earlier this summer claimed that Brighton would be interested in striking a deal with their Premier League rivals for Batshuayi – even though he bombed at Crystal Palace not too long ago.

Batshuayi is now inside the final year of his contract at Stamford Bridge, meaning the summer transfer window is the last opportunity for the Blues to try and recoup a fraction of the sizeable sum they shelled out six years ago.
