Chelsea are ‘set to hold talks with Sassuolo over the future of their former forward Jeremie Boga’ – who they can buy back for just £12.8million.

Boga joined Chelsea in 2009 and spent nine years at the club, the last three of which out on various loan spells, before he joined Sassuolo permanently.

He has spent the last two seasons in Serie A and has impressed so much that Chelsea are now considering whether to exercise the buy-back option in his contract, according to Tuttomercatoweb.

It has been reported this week that Sassuolo officials have travelled to London to speak to Chelsea, in the hope that they will remove the buy-back option.

Chelsea, meanwhile, are said to be keen to activate the buy-back option to bring Boga back to London and then sell him on for a profit.

Sassuolo paid just £2.5m for the player’s services in 2018, and he has gone on to play 50 matches for the club in Italy’s top flight.

Just this season, he has contributed seven goals and four assists in 23 Serie A matches.
