Chelsea plotting Paulo Dybala transfer bid as Juventus consider selling ex-Man Utd target

Chelsea are planning to take advantage of Paulo Dybala’s contractual situation at Juventus and sign the Argentine playmaker on the cheap, according to Italian outlet Tutto Mercato Web, via ESPN.

Dybala has fallen out of favour under Andrea Pirlo at Juventus.

The playmaker was believed to be one of the players Juve would listen to offers for in the summer transfer window, 12 months after he rejected the chance to leave.

The Argentine star was in talks with Tottenham and Manchester United back in 2019 and was reportedly on the verge of signing for Spurs, only to change his mind and decide to stay and fight for his future.

He managed to work his way back into the team last season, playing 35 games in Serie A, as well as eight in the Champions League and four in the Copa Italia.

He managed to produce an impressive return in his last campaign, too, clocking 17 goals and 14 assists across all competitions.

This season, however, as started poorly for the 26-year-old.

After the arrival of Pirlo, the forward was apparently told he wasn’t in the former player’s plans and was shopped around.

Just as he did in 2019, he opted to stay in Turin and fight for his place, but this time around it hasn’t gone the same way for him.

Dybala is yet to feature for Juve this season, only making the bench once – against AS Roma.

He missed the first game of the season through a thigh issue, but is believed to have recovered, and he is available for selection.

The playmaker only has two years to run on his current contract, but is currently in negotiations with the club over an extension.

However, according to Tutto Mercato Web, Chelsea are taking a look at the forward and are considering making a bid.

The report states that Chelsea are watching his situation closely and are considering making an approach if talks over an extension stall.

The Blues reportedly want to try and snap him up if it seems possible he will enter into the final year of his contract without an extension in sight.

Chelsea spent big this summer to improve their attack, spending nearly £180million on Kai Havertz, Timo Werner and Hakim Ziyech.

Frank Lampard is believed to be focusing instead on signing a defender next summer, with West Ham’s Declan Rice a potential option.
