Chelsea left-back Ian Maatsen, who turned down a move to Feyenoord to fight for his place, is discussing a move to Vincent Kompany’s Burnley.
Maatsen, 20, joined Chelsea in 2018 after beginning his career with Dutch side Feyenoord and has spent the last two seasons on loan at Charlton Athletic and Coventy City.
He was a regular first team star for both clubs – helping Coventry survive in the second tier last season as he played 42 times and scored three goals.

Now the player could be set to quit Stamford Bridge in search of more minutes having got a taste of first team football – and Kompany is keen to bring him to Turf Moor after arriving at the club from Anderlecht.
He even snubbed a return to boyhood club Feyenoord – who he joined at the age of seven – to try to impress Thomas Tuchel at Chelsea, but now his future looks to be in Lancashire with Burnley.
Kompany also wants Manchester City striker Liam Delap on loan ,who has also attracted interest from Southampton and Brighton.

City are prepared to allow Delap – the son of ex-Stoke man Rory – leave this summer to gain experience.
He made his Premier League debut in the 2020-21 season in a 5-2 loss to Leicester City and played in the Champions League for the first time against Sporting Lisbon this February.
Kompany has already lured two City youngsters to Burnley on loan this summer – centre-backs CJ Egan-Riley and Taylor Harwood-Bellis, with the ex-defender using his connections at the club.
He has also signed Scott Twine from MK Dons, Oxford’s Luke McNally, Samuel Bastien from Standard Liege and Anderlecht’s Josh Cullen.
