Chelsea team news: Expected 4-3-3 vs Luton Town as Kai Havertz and Timo Werner start

Chelsea: Lampard confident he can cope with pressure

Chelsea will face Championship opposition in the FA Cup fourth round, with Luton Town the visitors to Stamford Bridge on Sunday afternoon. Frank Lampard’s side will be looking to return to winning ways after Tuesday’s lacklustre defeat at the hands of Premier League title contenders Leicester City.

Express Sport brings you the predicted Chelsea lineup to take on the Hatters.

Goalkeeper: Kepa

Second-choice stopper Kepa Arrizabalaga should return between the sticks against Luton.

The Spaniard kept a clean sheet against League Two side Morecambe in the previous round, and will be hoping for a repeat of that performance at Stamford Bridge on Sunday.

Edouard Mendy looks set to be rested ahead of Chelsea’s next Premier League outing against Wolves on Wednesday evening.

Kepa will be confident of mitigating the threat posed by Luton’s top scorer, James Collins, who has found the net on nine occasions so far this season.

JUST IN: Frank Lampard urged to make drastic Chelsea change amid sack pressure

Defence: Azpilicueta, Zouma, Christiansen, Emerson

Cesar Azpilicueta, who has often been left out of the side in favour of Reece James this season, could come in at right-back.

Usual choice Kurt Zouma may return to the back four after being left as an unused substitute in Chelsea’s last two Premier League matches, alongside Andreas Christensen who has played second fiddle to Thiago Silva for much of the campaign.

Meanwhile, left-back Emerson Palmieri is likely to start the match.

The Brazilian has been linked with a move away from Stamford Bridge in recent months amid a lack of first-team action.

Midfield: Gilmour, Havertz, Mount

Lampard could call on young midfielder Billy Gilmour to protect the back four against Luton.

The teenager is one of Chelsea’s brightest talents and looks set to make up one third of Sunday’s midfield trio after completing the full 90 minutes against Morecambe in the third round.

Kai Havertz, who has struggled to live up to expectations since his club-record move from Bayer Leverkusen, should be given the chance to begin a run of strong form against the Hatters while England star Mason Mount will likely be tasked with the side’s creative duties.

Their opposite numbers will face a tough challenge to win the midfield battle against the superior quality of the five-time Premier League champions.

Attack: Hudson-Odoi, Ziyech, Werner

A strong attacking trident may be deployed by Lampard in order to seal his side’s spot in the fifth round of the competition.

Summer signing Hakim Ziyech and academy product Callum Hudson-Odoi, who has been heavily linked with a big-money move to Bayern Munich in recent seasons, could take up the wide positions.

Olivier Giroud would usually be a shoe-in to start in the FA Cup but may be forced to settle for a spot on the bench, with the Frenchman only returning to training on Friday after recovering from an ankle injury.

For this reason, out-of-sorts striker Timo Werner could be set to lead the line as he desperately seeks a strong performance to kickstart a return to his best.

Chelsea predicted XI vs Luton Town: Kepa; Azpilicueta, Zouma, Christiansen, Emerson; Gilmour, Havertz, Mount; Hudson-Odoi, Ziyech, Werner.
