Antonio Rudiger ‘will NOT open talks on a new Chelsea deal until after the Euros this summer’ with Germany defender still wary after losing his spot in the starting XI under Frank Lampard
- Antonio Rudiger will bide his time before thinking about a new Chelsea contract

Chelsea defender Antonio Rudiger has told the club he is not interested in opening talks over a new contract until after Euro 2020, according to reports.
The 28-year-old has revived his Blues career under Thomas Tuchel, being almost ever-present since the former PSG boss took over at the end of January after falling out of favour under Frank Lampard.
But with 15 months left to run on a contract that Chelsea are keen to extend, Rudiger has informed the club that discussions will not start until the European Championships are over, according to The Athletic.

Rudiger was on the verge of leaving west London at the end of last year, having been frozen out by then manager Lampard. Tuchel, then at PSG, was one of the managers interested in taking the Germany defender on loan, as was Jose Mourinho at rivals Tottenham.
‘There were two teams — but mainly one team I was considering,’ Rudiger revealed earlier this week. ‘PSG and there was a call with Mourinho but this didn’t happen. I was a bit upset because I knew my situation was that I would not be playing that often.’
Since Tuchel’s arrival at Stamford Bridge, Rudiger appears to be enjoying his football again. The manager’s faith in him is clear to see, with Rudiger playing in 12 out of 13 games under Tuchel.
But given Tuchel’s short 18-month contract, Rudiger remains wary of a change at the top leaving him in the same situation he found himself under Lampard, where he was effectively exiled and left out of the match-day squad for several weeks.

Rudiger is also said to be focused on Chelsea’s current campaign, with the club still fighting in the Premier League, Champions League and FA Cup.
The German, who joined Chelsea from Roma for £31million in 2017, has previously hinted he is open to extending his current deal.
‘Me and the club know how much I like this club so it’s down to people who make these decisions,’ he said. ‘But, at the moment, I will concentrate on important matches and targets. The rest, I’m sure we will resolve it.
‘I’ve always said I love it here at Chelsea. Chelsea will always be my priority.’
Chelsea have also made no secret of their desire to buy a new centre back in the summer, with the Blues linked to Niklas Sule, Gianluca Mancini and Ibrahima Konate among others.
