Christmas wouldn’t be Christmas without the traditional Boxing Day fixtures and there are some real festive treats to look forward to.
Arsenal’s London derby with Chelsea would normally, at the very least, have an impact on the race for the top four but Mikel Arteta’s side are currently embroiled in a relegation battle and cannot afford another defeat against Frank Lampard’s title chasers.
Elsewhere, in-form Manchester United face a real test of their mettle against Leicester, while champions Liverpool will be looking to complete another calendar year unbeaten at Anfield when they host West Brom.
As ever, Betfair Ambassador Dimitar Berbatov previews the action for Metro.co.uk…
Leicester City vs Manchester United
It’s a massive game between second and third in the Premier League. I can see both teams scoring but, if United start on the right foot, and don’t fall behind, then I think they will win this. I want to see Ole smiling at full-time and United closing in on top spot. Prediction: 1-2
Betfair Exchange Odds: Leicester – 2/1, Man Utd – 6/4, Draw – 11/4
Aston Villa vs Crystal Palace
Villa have kept three clean sheets in a row while Palace conceded seven at home to Liverpool last weekend. Roy Hodgson will be desperate for his team to tighten up against a fluid Villa attack. Prediction: 2-2
Betfair Exchange Odds: Aston Villa – Evens, Palace – 3/1, Draw -14/5
Fulham vs Southampton
I’d love my old club to stay up. Southampton play good football and have been one of the surprise packages of the season. But I’m going for the home win. Prediction: 1-0
Betfair Exchange Odds: Fulham – 9/4, Southampton – 7/5, Draw – 5/2
Arsenal vs Chelsea
Arsenal are in dire trouble but their fortunes have to change at some point. A London derby, against the team Arsenal beat in last season’s FA Cup final, could give them the motivation to raise their game. Prediction: 2-1
Betfair Exchange Odds: Arsenal – 16/5, Chelsea – Evens, Draw – 14/5
Man City vs Newcastle
There will be no surprise here. City have had their problems this season but they’ve tightened up at the back and I expect them to find their rhythm against Steve Bruce’s struggling team. Prediction: 3-0
Betfair Exchange Odds: Man City – 1/7, Newcastle – 28/1, Draw – 10/1
Sheffield United vs Everton
Every week I think Sheffield United will surprise us and get their first win of the season. Everton are bang in form but I still think that Blades win isn’t far away and I’m backing it here. Prediction: 1-0
Betfair Exchange Odds: Sheffield – 7/2, Everton – 10/11, Draw – 3/1
Leeds vs Burnley
It’s important for Leeds to put their Old Trafford mauling behind them. I like the way they play and, while Burnley can be difficult opponents for anyone, I’m backing Marcelo Bielsa to get a reaction. Prediction: 3-1
Betfair Exchange Odds: Leeds – 4/5, Burnley – 4/1, Draw – 16/5
West Ham vs Brighton
David Moyes has got West Ham organised at the back and firing in attack and, even though they were outplayed by Chelsea last week, I expect them to beat Brighton. Prediction: 2-0
Betfair Exchange Odds: West Ham – 6/4, Brighton – 11/5, Draw – 12/5
Wolves vs Tottenham
It doesn’t matter how Spurs go about winning at Molineux, they just need to go back to north London with the three points. They play a Wolves side that’s been up and down with their performances so, if Spurs are title contenders, they should win this. Prediction: 0-1
Betfair Exchange Odds: Wolves – 11/4, Spurs – 5/4, Draw – 12/5
Liverpool vs West Brom
Sam Allardyce would love his West Brom side to make things difficult for Liverpool but the champions have too much quality and will win this comfortably. Prediction: 4-0
