Borussia Dortmund striker Erling Haaland will be a key summer target for Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel, who is reportedly hoping to raid his former employers for their attacking talisman.

The Blues are understood to have offered misfit Tammy Abraham as a makeweight in the deal, with talks between the two clubs already underway.

Haaland’s transfer has been projected to cost around £170million, with the youngster and his agent, Mino Raiola, expected to seek wages of ‘at least’ £300,000 a week at Stamford Bridge.

The Daily Mail reported Chelsea are yet to hear whether Dortmund consider Abraham a suitable candidate for a part-exchange, but the Black and Yellows are known to be considering Haaland replacements.

Tuchel is said to have informed the Blues hierarchy of his desire to sign an accomplished finisher this summer, with Timo Werner having failed to convince as Chelsea’s frontman of choice.

The former RB Leipzig star netted 12 times in 52 appearances during his maiden campaign at Stamford Bridge, but Tuchel is seeking a higher standard of scoring after winning the Champions League crown.

Haaland, 20, bagged 41 goals in as many outings this past season, his first full term in the Bundesliga after sealing a move from Red Bull Salzburg in January 2020.

The Norway international joined Dortmund for around £18million but could cost almost 10 times that this summer, driving Chelsea’s desire to consider Abraham as a means of reducing the fee.

Premier League champions Manchester City are also reported to be interested in Dortmund’s dynamo, who could replace Sergio Aguero after he left the Etihad Stadium to join Barcelona.

Abraham—who is contracted in west London until the summer of 2023—has struggled to feature since Tuchel replaced Frank Lampard at the Chelsea helm in January.

The 23-year-old was a regular under Lampard and scored 18 times in 47 total appearances during the 2019/20 season, but he played just 140 minutes in the league after Tuchel took charge.

Dortmund have benefited from loaning Chelsea strikers in the past after another Stamford Bridge outcast, Michy Batshuayi, scored nine times in 14 games on loan during the 2017/18 campaign.

Haaland will be one of the hottest prospects in Europe this summer, having finished as the Champions League’s top scorer last term with 10 goals in eight European outings.

Chelsea reportedly value academy graduate Abraham at £40million amid rumours they’re targeting an upgrade in the striker department.

Fellow England international Jadon Sancho has been linked with a move back to the Premier League from Dortmund, meanwhile, with Manchester United and City closely linked with his signature.
