Ek makes contact with Kroenke as Arsenal takeover bid expected ‘this week’

Daniel Ek has sounded out Arsenal owner Stan Kroenke as he looks to submit a formal offer to buy the club.

The Spotify billionaire has signalled his intention to try and takeover the Gunners, the club he supports and has the backing of several clubs legends.

One of whom is Thierry Henry and he revealed that the Swede has the finances to table his offer.

“He [Ek] already reached out and he already said himself that he collected the funds to make sure he can make a good bid," he said.

“Now, they [the Kroenkes] need to listen and see what they can do – will they accept or not accept?"

The Telegraph understands that Ek will make a formal offer to buy Arsenal by the end of the week.

Kroenke has made it clear that he has no intention to sell the club with his son and board member, Josh, holding a fan forum in an effort to re-engage supporters.

Fans have made their feelings known though with a series of demonstrations as they look to force the American businessman into selling the club.

Ek has signalled his desire to rebuild the "trust" with the fans.

"We are trying to offer a solution, involving the fans and putting the DNA back into the club," Henry went on to say.

"So let’s see where it is going to go because at one point there needs to be a discussion, but [Ek] reached out.

"I can’t talk about how much [the bid] will be, that’s going to be between Daniel and obviously the Kroenke family if they dare to entertain the bid.

“Daniel is an Arsenal fan, he didn’t say that for any publicity. He has been an Arsenal fan for a very long time. He approached us [Henry, Bergkamp and Vieira] and we listened to him."
