Erik ten Hag insists that Marcus Rashford ‘wants to stay’ at Man United despite a hold-up in his contract negotiations… as Red Devils boss tells fans to trust ‘the process’ over England star’s new deal

- Contract talks between himself and the club have been ongoing for months
Erik ten Hag has insisted that Marcus Rashford ‘wants to stay’ at Man United despite a delay in his contract renewal.
The England forward will be out of contract in 2024, with the club having triggered a one-year extension earlier this season, and has been in negotiations over a new deal for months.
However, little progress has been made between Rashford and United over a new contract, which has led to some fans growing concerned over his future.
This doesn’t seem to be an issue for ten Hag, however, who reassured supporters that they need to trust ‘the process’ surrounding Rashford’s contract negotiations.
Speaking at his press conference yesterday, ten Hag said: ‘I know but I don’t talk about the process. Let the process go.

Pressed on why there have been delays, ten Hag said: ‘Once again, this is not important at the moment for me or Rashy. We have to get into the Champions League and focus on that.
‘Marcus wants to stay and we want him to stay, so I think we will find each other.’
In March, Rashford rubbished claims that he was holding out for a £500,000-a-week deal at United and said discussions between the two had been ‘respectful’.
There have also been suggestions that the England star is holding off to see what a new regime would offer – with a Qatari group led by Sheikh Jassim and Ineos owner Jim Ratcliffe seen as front-runners for the club.
Both have promised to spend heavily if they are given the keys to Old Trafford and that – coupled with Rashford being one of the most in-form footballers in the world currently.
The forward is enjoying a sensational campaign for United, having scored 29 goals and added 11 assists in 53 games in all competitions.
Rashford missed out on United’s 2-0 win over Wolves on Saturday with a leg injury but could soon make a return to the pitch for the Red Devils.
He hopes to be available for Manchester United’s remaining three Premier League games and the FA Cup final against Manchester City after returning to training.
