Eriksen spotted ‘assisting already’ driving Martinez to Man Utd training

Manchester United fans have claimed that summer signing Christian Eriksen is 'already assisting' at his new club, as he took fellow new boy Lisandro Martinez to training.

United's stars made the trip to Carrington on Tuesday morning after returning from their pre-season tour of Thailand and Australia, and new signings Martinez and Eriksen were pictured driving in together. The pair became friendly while Eriksen trained at Ajax before making his return to professional football with Brentford at the start of the year.

Eriksen and Martinez have been signed alongside Tyrell Malacia this summer, as Erik ten Hag looks to strengthen his squad after a miserable campaign under both Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and Ralf Rangnick last time out. But Eriksen is already off to a good start, assisting his new team-mate already.

United offered Eriksen a three-year deal after the midfielder became subject to heavy interest following his display at Brentford last season, assisting four times in 11 games for the newly promoted Premier League side. It was quite the turnaround after the Denmark international suffered a shock cardiac arrest last summer and many feared that his career was over.

Following his release from Inter Milan, Eriksen trained with Ajax to return to match fitness, and it was with the Amsterdam outfit that he struck up a bond with Ten Hag and Martinez. And now the midfielder will be working alongside them on a permanent basis, after showing the world he still has what it takes while at Brentford.

The deal for Martinez is still yet to be announced, although Ten Hag's side have agreed a fee of £46.8million, rising to £55.3m, for Martinez on a five-year contract, plus an extra optional year. But it's likely that with a formal announcement imminent, both Martinez and Eriksen could get their first minutes in a United shirt in the coming days.

United are scheduled to play Atletico Madrid in Oslo on Saturday, before what's expected to be a heavily weakened side take on Rayo Vallecano at Old Trafford just 24 hours later. But there have also been reports that United could face Wrexham in a behind-closed-doors match at Carrington on Wednesday.

According to the Manchester Evening News, Eriksen could feature for the very first time in that game after not travelling with the squad for their pre-season tour. He was pictured in Manchester on Monday though, and another huge figure has been spotted at Carrington too.

Cristiano Ronaldo has finally emerged as he is set for crucial talks with Ten Hag over his future. According to reports, Ronaldo still wants to leave the club in order to secure Champions League football, while Ten Hag insists the striker is not for sale.
