Everton boss Rafa Benitez is preparing to push for the signings of Real Madrid duo Isco and Luka Jovic in the upcoming January transfer window, according to reports. The Spanish boss has made a decent start to life back on Merseyside, helping the Toffees to register four wins from their opening six matches of the new Premier League campaign.

Benitez was appointed to replace Carlo Ancelotti, who ditched Everton in favour of a second spell in charge of Real Madrid, back in June.

The former Liverpool boss spent less than £2million in the summer transfer window, with Demarai Gray arriving as his only signing to command a fee.

Andros Townsend, Salomon Rondon, Asmir Begovic and Andy Lonergan also joined Everton before last month’s deadline on free transfers.

However, the Toffees managed to raise £6.3m in loan fees by sending Moise Kean on loan to Juventus, while James Rodriguez’s recent move to Al-Rayyan was completed for around £7.2m.

It seems as though Benitez is planning to splash his newly-found riches by launching a raid on Ancelotti and Real Madrid for not one, but two players at the turn of the year.

Everton chiefs are ‘going crazy’ to land Isco and Jovic on loan until the end of the season, according to Defensa Central.

The former has played six times in La Liga since the beginning of the campaign, but has only started twice and will be out of contract in the summer.

The report claims that Everton could try and land Isco on a free transfer ahead of next season if a loan proves to be difficult to engineer.

Meanwhile, Jovic is tied down in the Spanish capital until 2025 but has failed to live up to expectations since his move from Eintracht Frankfurt two years ago.

He is scarcely called upon by Ancelotti, with the Serbian forward playing just 31 minutes in La Liga so far this season.

Jovic has reportedly been given an ‘invitation’ to leave by Real Madrid and it seems as though a January move could well be on the cards.

However, it remains to be seen whether Everton will be able to sign both players ahead of the business end of the season.

Meanwhile, former Arsenal striker Kevin Campbell recently urged the Toffees to consider a move for Serge Aurier in order to provide additional cover for Seamus Coleman at right-back.

The Ivorian defender is currently a free agent after he was released from his previous contract at Tottenham last month.

“That might be another thing for Serge Aurier on a free,” Campbell told Goodison News.

“Coleman has been such a fantastic performer, a stalwart for Everton but the injuries just keep racking up.

“The best ability is availability as a footballer, and the manager needs his players available.

“Seamus is well thought of, but if you’re not available, you’re no use.”
