Evra slams Pepe and tells Arsenal star not to "come crying" after red card

Patrice Evra has told Nicolas Pepe not to "come crying" to Mikel Arteta after he spurned his chance with a red card at Leeds.

The Ivorian was given a rare start at Elland Road but cost his team when he was sent-off early in the second-half.

He reacted angrily to a scuffle with Ezjgan Alioski and headbuttted the Leeds star.

Anthony Taylor didn't see the incident but was advised to review it on the pitchside monitor and subsequently produced a red card.

Pepe has struggled to make a regular impact following his club record £72m move from Lille last summer.

And Evra concedes there can be no excuses from the forward should Arteta leave him out going forward.

"I'm disappointed – it came from being frusrated," he said on Sky Sports.

"You could see early on that he was already dealing with Alioski and you can see Pepe isn't happy.

"I think he should say sorry to all his team-mates because Arsenal had a plan but then of course everything changes after that.

"Alioski deserved an oscar, he played it so well"

"but really silly from Pepe, you've not been playing a lot and then Arteta gives you a chance so don't come and cry when you don't play the next game"

Arteta has already labelled the incident as "unacceptable" and has spoken with the player.

His side battled to gain a point against a dominant Leeds side who hit the woodwork on several occasions.

He told the BBC: "It is a point. I am never happy with a draw but considering the circumstance it is one we take and move on."

Before adding on Pepe's red: "It is unacceptable. Unacceptable. At this level you cannot do it."
