Ex-Chelsea star Oscar has bigger net worth than John Terry after moving to China

Former Chelsea starlet Oscar is believed to have a bigger net worth than his former club captain John Terry.

Oscar abandoned any sense of ambition by leaving the Blues in 2016 to join Shanghai SIPG for around £60million.

He has now spent the last four years, nearly five, of his career in China.

The 30-year-old signed a contract in the Far East worth an estimated $26.5million annually over four years, and he signed an extension until 2024 in 2019.

And as one of the highest-paid players on the planet, Oscar's net worth has skyrocketed.

So much so that the Chelsea flop is now reportedly worth $70million, $20million more than his former captain Terry, despite the gulf in achievements and credibility.

Between 2017 and 2018, the first year of Oscar's move to China, it was believed the Brazilian made around $30million in salary and endorsements.

That's according to Celebrity Net Worth, a site that estimates athlete's wealth based on multiple factors.

However, an athlete's exact net worth cannot be verified unless it is disclosed.

One of Oscar's endorsements came from Calvin Klein, with who he was once an underwear model.

Oscar also signed a deal with Adidas after his move to China.

The Chinese Super League has since introduced a salary cap – foreigners can't earn more than $3million-per-year – to stop similar deals from materialising and to increase focus on young Chinese players.

When Oscar arrived at Stamford Bridge in the summer of 2012, it was hoped he would be the player to continue Chelsea's era of success.

Oscar arrived alongside another young playmaker, who was one year his senior, and the club decided that Oscar should stay while the other youngster needed more time out on loan.

The other youngster, Kevin De Bruyne, is now one of the Premier League's top players.

Oscar quickly faded from view at Stamford Bridge, and it's been five years since the 30-year-old last pulled on the yellow of Brazil.

However, Oscar's time in China has contributed to him being one of the wealthiest players on the planet.

Terry, on the other hand, has also done well for himself, and with his net worth valued at around $50million, he is worth five times that of Meghan Markle and Prince Harry.
