Fans claim Ben Mee should be manager of the season as Burnley get another win

Supporters have suggested that Ben Mee should be named as the manager of the season following Burnley’s dramatic win over Watford.

The Clarets defeated the Hornets 2-1 to confirm Norwich’s relegation to the Championship. It marks the Lancashire side’s third win on the bounce after they sacked long-term manager Sean Dyche. Since then, Mee has taken the dugout along with interim manager Mike Jackson and results have picked up tremendously.

As such, despite the achievements of Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola and Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp, supporters have lauded Mee as the best coach of the season. One wrote: “Ben mee for manager of the season if Burnley stay up.”

Another said: “Ben Mee manager of the season.” A third wrote: “I LOVE BEN MEE MANAGER OF THE SEASON.” A last one wrote: “Give Ben Mee manager of the season.”

Indeed, at the Vicarage Road, goals from Jack Cork and Josh Brownhill effectively relegated the home side, who opened the scoring via a James Tarkowski own-goal.

It sends Burnley to 16th in the Premier League table, with Everton and Leeds in serious trouble of going down. Earlier this month, then-struggling Burnley sacked Dyche with just four wins to their name.

Chairman Alan Pace announced the end of Dyche’s ten-year tenure in a shock statement: "Firstly, we would like to place on record our sincere thanks to Sean and his staff for their achievements at the Club over the last decade. During his time at Turf Moor, Sean has been a credit both on and off the pitch, respected by players, staff, supporters, and the wider football community.

"However, results this season have been disappointing and, while this was an incredibly difficult decision, with eight crucial games of the campaign remaining, we feel a change is needed to give the squad the best possible chance of retaining its Premier League status.”
