Emiliano Martinez further embedded himself into the hearts of Aston Villa fans for his cheeky contribution to their second goal.
The Midlanders began Unai Emery’s reign at Villa Park with a sensational 3-1 victory over Manchester United. Two goals in the first 11 minutes from Leon Bailey and Lucas Digne put Villa into the driving seat against Erik ten Hag, who was furious with his team’s performance.
However, Martinez’s contribution to the all important second goal was one of the main topics of conversation amongst many Villa fans.

As Digne was picking which square of the net he wanted to put the ball into, Martinez interestingly sprinted up to the half-way line. The Argentine then started waving his hands, shouting, and directing players to block David de Gea’s view.
Of course the shouting and arm waving may have also distracted the United shot-stopper as well. And Villa fans certainly loved his cheeky bit of gamesmanship.
