‘Bunch of know-it-alls!’: Joao Felix hits back at rumours he’ll join Newcastle at the end of the season… as Atletico Madrid ‘look to offload the Chelsea loanee for £87m this summer’
- Newcastle are being linked with a move for Atletico Madrid’s Joao Felix
- Felix took to Instagram to lash out at the rumours he would join the Magpies
- The 23-year-old is thought to want to play in next season’s Champions League
Joao Felix has hit back at claims that he would join Newcastle United at the end of the season with an Instagram reply.
Earlier this week, there were rumours circling that the Magpies were considering the Atletico Madrid forward, who is currently on loan at Premier League rivals Chelsea.
But with the 23-year-old looking for Champions League football next season, he is not set to stay with the Blues – leading to speculation of a move to Newcastle.
But when Portuguese outlet Eleven Sports ran the story on Instagram, with a picture of Felix mocked up in a Newcastle jersey, the Portuguese play bit back, calling them a ‘bunch of know-it-alls!’
The comment has over 4,000 likes from fellow football fans.

Eddie Howe’s Newcastle have previous experience with buying talent from Atletico Madrid
Felix’s future is one of the major transfer discussions taking place in European football, with negotiations about a permanent Chelsea move proving fruitless.
Felix has three more Chelsea games remaining this season, away to Manchester City, then Manchester United, and finally a home game against the Magpies.
Felix has scored three goals in 18 Chelsea appearances during his loan spell.
His return to Atletico Madrid seems unlikely, as the club’s form has improved since the Portuguese star’s exit in January, and there has been a falling out with the team’s manager Diego Simeone.

Atletico paid £114m for Felix’s services back in 2019, and are looking to recoup most of that money if they let him leave.
Eddie Howe’s Magpies have splashed the cash in recent windows, bringing in the likes of Alexander Isak, Sven Botman and Anthony Gordon over the last 12 months.
Newcastle signed Kieran Trippier from Atletico for £12m in January 2022, and their existing relationship with the Spanish giants might have proved useful if Felix wanted to move to the north-east.
Manchester United are another name linked to Felix’s services next term, and they are also on the cusp of Champions League qualification if they can keep Liverpool at bay.
