Jose Mourinho is "finished" slam fans as Roma boss breaks unwanted record

Fans have accused Jose Mourinho of being "finished" on social media after the Roma boss broke an unwanted record on Thursday night.

Mourinho watched his side humbled 6-1 by Norwegian champions Bodo/Glimt in the Europa Conference League, the first time he has conceded six goals in a match as a manager.

The result comes just six months after Mourinho was sacked by Tottenham Hotspur in April and leaves Roma trailing the European group stage debutants by a point after three matches.

The 58-year-old returned to Italy in the summer 11 years after he left Inter Milan and his Roma side currently sit fourth in Serie A.

Fans on Twitter were quick to ridicule Mourinho after the shock defeat, with both the loss and the manner of the defeat angering Roma supporters.

One fan wrote: “Jose Mourinho’s Roma concede six goals against Bodo/Glimt. Not surprised though cause man’s tactics are finished and living on past glories.”

Another added: “It’s official, Jose Mourinho is finished and decayed. Pep is clear and always will be clear.”

A third supporter tweeted: “Jose Mourinho is finished, don’t let him fool you again.”

This season marks the first time Bodo/Glimt have reached the group stage of a European club competition, having won their first Norwegian title in 2020.

After being knocked out of Champions League qualifying by Legia Warsaw, they had to go through three rounds of matches to reach the Europa Conference League group stage.

Fans were quick to point out that their lowly status in European football further adds to the idea that Mourinho, who has been linked with the vacant Newcastle job, is below the level he once was.

This was acknowledged by one fan who wrote: “See the team thrashing Mourinho, this man is fully finished.”

The hosts had raced into a two-goal lead inside 20 minutes in Norway thanks to goals from Erik Botheim and Patrick Berg before Carles Perez pulled one back for Roma before half time.

Botheim added a second after the break to restore the two-goal advantage before a brace from Ola Solbakken and Amahl Pellegrino's goal rounded out the scoring.

The sides meet again at the Stadio Olimpico in two weeks time.
