Jose Mourinho’s greatest Instagram posts – from mobile phones to moody snap

Jose Mourinho and Instagram don't seem like a partnership that should work hand-in-hand, but it's sparked one of football most unlikely duos.

While most footballers engage in social media, it's very rare to find managers who dabble on the platform.

The current Roma boss joined Instagram in February 2020, when he was still at Tottenham, and Mourinho has graced the platform with his quick wit and dry humour ever since.

The 58-year-old has shown off a different side to himself with cheeky posts after wins, losses and transfers.

And Daily Star Sport is ranking Mourinho's top six Instagram posts.

6 – The Red Card

The most recent on the list came over last weekend, and Roma and Napoli had just fought out a tough 0-0 draw.

With both managers given their marching orders, Mourinho decided to offer tactical advice to his team by peeking over the barrier, an ingenious effort that was caught on camera.

Mourinho, however, posted the video on his Instagram with the caption: "When you have no ticket, and you desperately want to watch a great football game."

5 – Ludogorets win

Tottenham's Europa League campaign ended unceremoniously when Mourinho's side were dumped out in the Round of 16 by Dinamo Zagreb.

However, before Tottenham collapsed in Croatia, the Lilywhites had survived a scare by the Bulgarian side Ludogorets, and Mourinho uploaded a snap to Instagram afterwards.

"When you win but you don’t play especially well @pfcludogorets1945," Mourinho posted with an image of him tucking into a tub of pasta on a black sofa.

4 – Against modern technology

It's ironic that the 58-year-old took to a social media platform to vent about his players using phones, albeit in a light-hearted manner.

Spurs had just beaten Burnley 1-0 with a goal through Heung-min Son, and the squad's celebrations hadn't quite matched Jose's expectations.

The Special One uploaded a snap with a number of first-team players on their phones and a bemused looking Mourinho with the caption: "After a great victory in a really hard match… Sign of the times. Well done boys."

3 – The goalposts

Before a third-round qualifying match for the Europa League over the summer in 2020, Spurs travelled to North Macedonia for a clash with KF Shkendija.

And Mourinho thought he had grown a little when the Special One was able to touch the goalposts.

He captioned the snap: "I thought I had grown but then I realised the goal was 5 centimetres lower – Shkëndija 1 – 3 @spursofficial."

2 – On a plane

There's nothing quite like a flight to catch up on some Netflix.

And it turns out that Mourinho is very much like us as the former-Spurs manager uploaded a snap of him tucking into some popcorn and watching a film on the way back from a match.

"One more flight, one more movie, one more @europaleague match @spursofficial."

1 – The bad performance

Bad performances can get you down, at least Jose had enough left in him to post this hilarious candid snap.

Sat on the team bus with his bag by his side Mourinho said: "Bad performances deserve bad results. Hope everyone in this bus is as upset as I am. Tomorrow 11 AM training."

It wouldn't look out of place in the Louvre.
