Jurgen Klopp has stood up for Manchester City and slammed the Premier League over Liverpool's rival's congested fixture schedule.
Manchester City were forced to play at 12:30pm last Saturday, against West Ham, after beating Porto in the Champions League on the Wednesday before.
It was a short turnaround and even Klopp took exception to timing of the Premier League clash. The Liverpool boss name-checked Richard Masters chief executive as he blasted the organisation.
“I think everybody would agree that if you play Tuesday night, you can play the Saturday 12:30pm game, but somehow the Premier League never realises that," said Klopp.
"They always put in the Wednesday night game, like last Saturday, Man City had to play this game – I can’t believe it. We are obviously not friends, we play against each other and fight against each other, but how is that possible?
"Maybe I’m too dumb. Richard Masters and all the others have all said it before; ‘come on, that’s how it is’.
"They just aren’t bothered, I don’t understand why."
Ironically, City feature once again in Saturday's early fixture against Sheffield United.
This time, however, they have an extra day to recover after beating Marseille 3-0 in the Champions League on Tuesday night.
Liverpool face West Ham in Saturday's later fixture, at 5:30pm.
