Jurgen Klopp can finalise dream transfer at Liverpool for free this summer

Jurgen Klopp has been motoring to a Premier League trophy with Liverpool this season and his Reds are looking unbeatable.

There is not much he can do to improve the squad but after a season of looking at bargain deals, they can splash the cash this summer.

A number of top targets have been linked including Timo Werner, Kai Havertz and, more audaciously, Kylian Mbappe .

But one man could arrive this summer for free and would be a chance for a perfect reunion at Anfield.

The likes of Takumi Minamino, Adrian and Sepp van den Berg were the arrivals throughout the campaign.

And it was the former who was the most expensive, costing just £7.25m from RB Salzburg.

Liverpool can kickstart their season next year by eyeing another cheap deal if they move for Mario Gotze at Borussia Dortmund.

The Germany international will see his contract expire at the end of the season at the Signal Iduna Park.

And he enjoyed his best years under Klopp when the charismatic manager was in charge of the Bundesliga outfit.

Injuries have rocked his career and an ill-fated move to Bayern Munich saw him return to Dortmund in sheepish fashion.

Ultimately, he has never reached the same level he was, resulting in his peak at the 2014 World Cup when he scored the winning goal vs Argentina.

Gotze has since reformed himself after a period of soul-searching and now plays a role that Liverpool would be interested in.

At Dortmund, he has turned into a false nine striker, holding the ball up for wide players to come more centrally. Sounds familiar?

With Roberto Firmino a vital cog of the machine on Merseyside, Gotze can provide ample back-up when necessary.

The Reds have played a lot of games this season and the Brazil international may start to feel the effects of that next season.

The arrival of Gotze would help alleviate some of the pressure on him.

And at 27, his age is not a problem with a good few years still left in the German.

Gotze recently stated that him and Klopp are still in contact and that he taught him everything he knows.

“I’m still in touch with Jurgen,” Gotze told DAZN. “At that time, I was just 17 and coming up from the youth team.

“He taught me everything about professional football. He let me play. I often speak to Klopp. We never stopped talking.

“He knows me very well and that I am always looking for new challenges.”
