Juventus offer Man Utd choice of two players in exchange for Paul Pogba

Juventus remain desperate to re-sign Paul Pogba but are unlikely to be able to match Manchester United’s asking price and are exploring other means of engineering the France international’s return.

Pogba spent four trophy-laden years in Turin before he returned to Old Trafford in 2016 when he became the club’s record signing in a €105 million deal.

The 27-year-old has shown flashes of brilliance throughout the course of four-and-a-half turbulent years back in England and his future is again the subject of intense speculation.

United are unwilling to take a sizable loss on one of their prize assets and with Juventus already paying eye-watering salaries to the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo and Aaron Ramsey, they are aware of the need to balance the books.

With that in mind, according to ESPN, United have been alerted to the fact that both Paulo Dybala and Federico Bernardeschi would be available should they be interested in an exchange deal.

Argentina international Dybala came close to joining United 18 months ago but turned down a move and subsequently enjoyed one of his most prolific seasons with Juventus.

The 27-year-old has been largely out of favour this term, however, under new manager Andrea Pirlo and distanced himself from the suggestion he was set to embark on new contract talks after scoring his first goal of the campaign against Genoa last weekend.

‘My agent was in Turin for a long time and was never called by the club. It disappoints me to hear talk of invested financial figures,’ Dybala told Sky Italia after the game.

‘It would be better if the truth could be told, because talking about those aspects in this period pits the fans against me.’

Pogba, whose current deal expires in 2022, was understood to have been annoyed by United’s decision to trigger a 12-month extension clause recently which, in part, prompted his controversial agent Mino Raiola to claim his client was ready to quit the club for the second time in his career.

Rather than having been frozen out in recent weeks, however, Pogba has been an increasingly influential figure in a United side that climbed to within five points of league leaders Liverpool with a game in-hand following last night’s win at Sheffield United.

United remain adamant they will not be bullied by either Raiola or their highest earning player and will only relinquish Pogba on their terms.
