Cristiano Ronaldo’s time at Juventus could be coming to an end following links with a move back to Manchester United. The Turin club have set a price tag on the Portuguese superstar according to reports at an affordable fee that arch-rivals Manchester City could also be tempted to swoop for.
Ronaldo has been at Juventus for three seasons, following an £88million move from Real Madrid where he enjoyed a superb stint.
And despite hitting the ripe age of 36 – in which most players retire or move to lower league teams – Ronaldo has shown no signs of slowing down his career, with a move back to Manchester possibly on the cards.
Many thought he would never produce the numbers he attained at the Santiago Bernabeu with 450 goals in 438 games.
But with 101 in 133 at the Juventus Stadium – despite time working against him – it evidently shows that his record has paid dividends to his work-rate and his determination to succeed.
United fans have always seemed certain that he would return to Old Trafford, where he graced the Stretford End with his immense talent for six seasons.

But the continued brilliance of arguably the world’s best ever player meant he was never going to move back until the latter end of his career – which is more likely than ever now.
Italian journalist Nicolo Schira has claimed that Ronaldo would like to leave Juventus, with the Bianconeri valuing him at £25m (€29m) in order to avoid any losses on their financial statements as they comply with FFP laws.
The five-time Ballon d’Or winner was benched by Juve ahead of their season opener against Udinese, sparking rumours of an exit.
And, with fellow countryman Jorge Mendes as his agent, this is likely to be a transfer saga that dominates the headlines in the final days of the window.
It remains to be seen if there are clubs able to put together a package to sign Ronaldo though United and City are two of the few outfits who could do so, with Real Madrid having ruled out a return and Paris Saint-Germain having already spent big this summer, while Chelsea just signed Romelu Lukaku.
United fans would love to see the return of the man they once adored prior to his £85m move to Real Madrid back in 2009.
It remains to be seen whether United are going to sign anyone other than Ronaldo this summer, with a midfielder high on the list of players needed as the Red Devils continue to lack midfield steel.
And it would be extremely controversial for Ronaldo to move to City given the love he has from the red side of Manchester.
But, with links galore, it could well be that Mendes has held preliminary talks with Pep Guardiola’s men as a way of gauging interest for Ronaldo.
