  • The France international has a release clause in his contract worth £67million
  • The Blues pulled out of the move after being unwilling to raise their offer

Jules Kounde has reportedly been left ‘absolutely furious’ with his club Sevilla following his collapsed summer move to Chelsea.

The Blues were keen to add the highly rated defender to their ranks during the transfer window but saw their attempts rebuffed by the Spanish side.

According to the The Spanish Football Podcast, the France international is absolutely furious at the club for not selling him to Chelsea. Apparently not answering the phone to director of football Monchi or his manager Julen Lopetegui.

Sevilla defender Jules Kounde saw a potential switch to Chelsea collapse late on in the window

Blues boss Thomas Tuchel was keen to add the highly rated defender to his squad

Monchi revealed on transfer deadline day that while his side had received an offer from the Blues a week prior, it was rejected by the club.

‘The only written, formal offer from Chelsea came last Wednesday, around 5pm’, Monchi said.

‘We weren’t satisfied with the offer, and it was linked to Chelsea selling a player. It was a decent fee but it didn’t meet our criteria.

‘We haven’t spoken with Chelsea since Friday night. We all decided that it was best Jules didn’t travel to Elche. It’s normal for players to be affected by news of any kind. Last year he had the interest from City and now Chelsea this year.’

Kounde was sent off on Wednesday night for France with a straight red card in their World Cup qualifier with Bosnia and Herzegovina

Earlier in the window it was reported the clubs had agreed a deal worth £42.7million and it was only a case of agreeing terms with the player over a possible transfer.

However, reports emerged that Sevilla raised their asking price towards the 22-year-old’s release clause of £67million, which the European champions were unwilling to meet.

Any frustrations from Kounde appeared to boil over onto the pitch on Wednesday night when he was sent off for France in their World Cup qualifier against Bosnia & Herzegovina.

Kounde was given a straight red card in the 51st minute of the 1-1 draw following a dangerous tackle on Arsenal defender Sead Kolasinac.
