Jesse Lingard has singled out two Manchester United stars for their performances against Leeds United on Saturday afternoon.

The Red Devils unpicked the Leeds defence on five occasions in a swashbuckling performance during the first midday kick-off of the Premier League campaign.

Paul Pogba and Bruno Fernandes were at the heart of the United performance.

The Frenchman registered four assists as he ran the show from the centre of the park, while Fernandes bagged a hat-trick, including an incredible third.

And their teammate, Lingard, who wasn't in the squad, was quick to provide his opinion on the clash on Twitter.

He tweeted: "PP x BF," with three fire emojis.

Lingard was not involved in the clash after he recently tested positive for Coronavirus, and he missed United's final pre-season match against Everton as a result.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer said ahead of the match: "Jesse should be test to release very soon, hopefully, he’s got rid of the virus."

Lingard has been at the heart of a transfer saga with United and West Ham after spending last season on loan in London.

The Hammers were keen to retain the services of the midfielder, but United also wanted to keep him in their first-team plans.

He had impressed during his spell at the Olympic Stadium, and Lingard was unlucky to not be included in Gareth Southgate's squad for Euro 2020.
