Liverpool fan LeBron James gives verdict on Mohamed Salah after wonder goal

LeBron James was one of the fans left in awe of Mohamed Salah after the Liverpool forward produced an exceptional performance in the 2-2 draw against Manchester City on Sunday.

After a sloppy first-half, Salah was the one to spark Liverpool into action, setting up Sadio Mane to open the scoring before stunning Anfield with a memorising solo effort to make it 2-1.

Phil Foden was the only player on the pitch who came close to matching Salah’s impact, with the Man City youngster rifling in an equaliser and setting up Kevin De Bruyne’s deflected effort.

But for Liverpool fans the game was all about Salah, who continued his excellent form with a memorable display of skill.

The first goal was impressive enough. The 29-year-old won the ball in his own half before streaking clear of Joao Cancelo to slip the perfect pass into Mane, who found the bottom corner on the run.

Foden levelled things with an accurate finish past Alisson before Salah produced the game’s stand-out moment.

Jinking past Cancelo once again, he turned the City defence inside out with his footwork before smashing an inch-perfect finish past Ederson.

It was his ninth goal in nine appearances this season, and although De Bruyne ensured the spoils were shared, it was Salah who was the main talking point on social media.

That included basketball legend James, who was just as excited by the Liverpool forward’s game as everyone else.

Liverpool’s official Twitter account wrote “Mo Salah is just absolutely unbelievable at football,” to which LeBron simply added: “YES HE IS!!”

The LA Lakers star is not just a Liverpool fan; he has been a minority shareholder since 2011 when he purchased a two per cent stake of the club.

While he can’t get to many games, the 36-year-old is a vocal supporter of the team on social media.

Sunday’s draw saw both sides miss out on taking top spot in the Premier League ahead of the international break.

Chelsea’s 3-1 win over Southampton on Saturday was enough to earn them that honour, but Liverpool are just one point behind in second and remain the only unbeaten side in the league after seven matches.

Jurgen Klopp’s side will play Watford next, on October 16, before resuming their Champions League campaign away to Atletico Madrid three days later.
