Liverpool have ‘NO plans to sell Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain’ despite his lack of football since March, with Jurgen Klopp not moving for a new midfielder in this window after finishing summer incomings with capture of £6.5m Calvin Ramsay
- Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain is expected to remain at Anfield according to reports
- The 28-year-old has not played a single Premier League minute since March
- Liverpool ‘do not want to sell the midfielder’ having closed all incoming business
- Darwin Nunez, Fabio Carvalho and Calvin Ramsay have all joined the Reds so far
- They reportedly plan to sell Neco Williams permanently rather than on a loan
Liverpool have no desire to sell Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain this summer, according to reports.
The 28-year-old, whose contract is set to expire at the end of next season, was initially tipped to exit Anfield having not featured in a Premier League match since March.
However, following a busy month of negotiations, Liverpool have reportedly called an end to their incoming transfer business, having already signed Fabio Carvalho, Darwin Nunez and Calvin Ramsay this window.
Liverpool do not plan to let go of midfielder Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain according to reports
Therefore, as Liverpool are unlikely to recruit any midfield reinforcements ahead of next season, Anfield insiders expect Oxlade-Chamberlain to remain at the club, according to the Mirror.
The former England international has averaged less than six starts a season in the last two campaigns, establishing himself predominantly as a role player and impact substitute under Jurgen Klopp.
In a Reds career blighted by injury, the box-to-box midfielder has only managed more than 19 Premier League appearances – half of a full season – on two occasions since his arrival in 2017.
Fabio Carvalho and Darwin Nunez were Liverpool’s first two arrivals at Anfield this summer
Should he remain at the Merseyside club, Oxlade-Chamberlain would continue to fight for his place alongside Fabinho, Thiago Alcantara, Jordan Henderson, Naby Keita, Curtis Jones, James Milner and Harvey Elliott in the engine room.
Liverpool began their summer business with the capture of Carvalho for £7.7 million from Fulham, before emptying the pockets on club-record signing Nunez, who joined for a total fee of £85 million.
The Reds’ £6.5 million capture of Aberdeen full-back Ramsay on Sunday is now expected to be the club’s third and final signing of the window, despite there being eleven weeks left until the close of the summer deadline.
Calvin Ramsay is expected to be Liverpool’s third and final incoming transfer of the summer
Welsh right-back Neco Williams helped Fulham win promotion during his short-term loan spell
Neco Williams is likely to exit the club this summer following Ramsay’s arrival, having spent six months on loan at Fulham since January.
However, Liverpool will only permit Williams to leave on a permanent transfer and not on a fresh loan deal, according to reports.
Newly-promoted outfits Fulham and Nottingham Forest are both eager to recruit his services, although Liverpool have reportedly placed a £15 million price tag on the right-back.
